About Us

Thank you for your interest in Grace Community Church. We are a group of committed Christians who aim to be a friendly and supportive family, committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, and who seek to reflect his character in our lives and relationships. Our worship services are upbeat, friendly and purposeful, featuring contemporary worship music and a relevant message from God’s word to us, the Bible.

Because all of us share the same need for hope, purpose and the grace of new beginnings, we are committed to making known to all people, regardless of their religious background or personal history, the love of Jesus and the new life that is found in him.

Whether or not you have been diligent in your walk with God, or perhaps you are not yet sure how to make that first step, we trust you will find our church to be a place of genuine worship, welcome, love, and celebration in the joy of Christ. Know with certainty that you have a place among us that awaits you and an awesome God who wants to meet you here.

Our History

Grace Community Church of Chalfont held its first worship service on Februrary 6, 1994. Years before that time, a small group of members from Chelten Baptist Church of Dresher had begun praying for a "daughter" church to be started in the Chalfont/North Penn area. In 1993, God led Pastor Ken Kirby and his wife Sue to move to this area and begin working with us toward starting the church. Ken and Sue were church planters and our little group benefited greatly from their experience and loving hearts for God and for us.

On January 2, 1994, Chelten Baptist Church held a commissioning service and sent out twelve families and five singles to begin this new work. We met at High Point Athletic Club for the first time on January 9th, a memorable day, because the day before had brought a sever ice storm to our area, bringing down power lines and causing all kinds of havoc! We had only partial power for that first service and it was cold! We worshipped with our coats on, cold on the outside, but warmed in our hearts by the fellowship of our endeavor.

Our core group met through the month of January, and then we opened our doors to the public February 6th. We had a special brunch at the Kirby's home for all who attended that first service. We continued meeting at High Point for several years and our church body grew. The Kirby's moved on to take a position at Columbia University. Our second pastor was Ernie Frey and his wife Anne and daughters Morgan and Meredith. The Frey's had been missionaries to Kenya and they encouraged us to have a heart for missions. We moved our meeting place to Unami Middle School in Chalfont and several exciting mission trips were held during the summers as our body grew closer in fellowship and service.

Our third pastor, Trevor Hooper with his wife Teresa and children Kristy, Jordan, and Joshua, began their ministry with us in September 2002. During the summer of 2002 we had the long-awaited opportunity to purchase a building of our own in Chalfont. We are all worked together to renovate the building that God has given to us to make it ready to hold services.

We are excited about the work God has called us to do. We pray that many of our neighbors will come through the doors of our new church building to join us in fellowship and corporate worship, as we worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
